POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015

POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015 is an international competition organized by the
University of Arts in Poznan Foundation with the objective to showcase and promote the best BA
and MA diploma works in photography from all over the world.
Poznan is the most important centre of photography education in Poland. Photography has been
taught here since 1919. University of Arts in Poznan can now be proud of 40 years of intensive
experience in modern photography education.
Third edition of POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD gives the participants an opportunity to
show their work to the public and professionals – curators, photo festival directors, critics, and
gallery owners.
Take the chance to be a part of a great exhibition and meet young photographers from all around the
world and be the one who presents a solo exhibition during the 10th Biennale of Photography in
Poznan! Another presentation of PPDA 2015 exhibition will be held in Lille (F) in Maison de la
Photographie at the beginning of 2016.

COMPETITION RULES:
1. AWARDS
1.1 The Jury will select the Grand Prix and the First Prize winners.
1.2 The Grand Prix winner will be awarded a cash prize and an invitation to a solo exhibition during
the 10th Biennale of Photography in Poznan in 2017.
1.3 The First Prize-winner will be awarded a cash prize.
2. THE EXHIBITION
2.1 The Award Ceremony will be held during the POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015
exhibition in November 2015.

2.2. The second final exhibition will be held in Lille (F) in January 2016.
2.3. By submitting their works participants agree to take part in the POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA
AWARD 2015 exhibition if nominated by the Jury and bear all the costs of the production and
delivery of their works to Poznan.
3. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
3.1 WHO CAN APPLY?
The Organizers invite all BA and MA graduates whose final degree work is indisputably a work of
photographic art and who get their degree in photography during the period from 1st August 2013
to 31st July 2015.
3.2 HOW TO APPLY?
3.2.1 Participants apply via Poznan Photo Diploma Award 2015 web site:
www.photodiploma.com
No applications sent from participant's individual email will be accepted.
3.2.2 Participation in the POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015 is free of charge (with the
exception of point 2.2)
3.2.3 A correct application consists of:
a) Entry form in English (fill it in at www.photodiploma.com)
b) Photographs which constitute the artistic part of their diploma work: photographs must
be exactly 2400 pixels on the longest side, must be saved as JPEG, best quality, must be
ZIPPED and the ZIP must not exceed 15 MB.
Each picture must be signed with the author’s surname, name, title and a sequence number
(01,02 etc.), eg. Smith-John-title-01, Smith-John-title-02, etc.
c) An English translation of the certificate (scanned version) confirming that the degree has
been obtained and providing the date of the diploma obtaining ZIPPED together with
diploma pictures
d) A brief written description of the idea of the artistic part of the diploma works in English
(max. 1000 characters) (fill it in at www.photodiploma.com)
e) A technical description of the work in English (technique, size, space required for the
exhibition, installation and deinstallation instructions) (fill it in at www.photodiploma.com)

3.3. Receipt of each entry complying with the application rules will be confirmed by an email. Do
not respond to this email.
3.4 Please, follow the application guidelines carefully. Any application that will not comply with
the application rules and size limitations or will not be completed in English will be rejected.
4. THE JURY AND SELECTION PROCEDURES
4.1 The independent international Jury will consist of experts on contemporary photography – photo
festival directors, critics and curators.
4.2 After the close of online applications the Jury will nominate a short list of finalists who will
participate in the POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015 Exhibition. Participants nominated
for the exhibition are obliged to provide original works at their own expense (check point 5 for
deadlines).
4.3 Competition results will be announced at the Award Ceremony in November 2015.
4.4 The Jury has the right to exclude applications, which do not comply with the rules of
application. All decisions of the Jury are final.
5. CALENDAR:
5.1 Deadline for online applications: 30th August 2015 / 23.00 CET
5.2 Delivery of original works for the post-competition exhibition: by 23rd October 2015 loco
Poznan (the Organizers must receive original works selected for the post-competition exhibition by
23rd October 2015 so it is the date of receiving the works, NOT the date of the postmark, which is
decisive).
5.3 Exhibition of nominated diploma works will hold in art space of Słodownia – Stary Browar
(Old Brewery) in Poznań on 14.11-06.12.2015.
5.4 Award Ceremony: November 2015 (exact date will be confirmed)
5.5 Presentation of PPDA 2015 exhibition in Lille (F) in Maison de la Photographie in January
2016.
5.6 The Organizers reserve the right to modify this timetable. Participants will be notified about
such changes on the website.
6. RETURNING THE WORKS
6.1 All works submitted for the exhibition will be returned at the expense of the Organizers (March
2016).

6.2 Works must be delivered in packaging, which can be re-used for safe returning. Organizers do
not take responsibility for damages caused by improper packaging.
7. COPYRIGHTS AND THE USE OF IMAGES
7.1 By sending the application each contestant acknowledges that he/she is the author and the only
owner of submitted works and that his/her works are free of any rights of third parties.
7.2 While copyright and intellectual rights remain the property of the author, by submitting the
application each participant grants the organizers the permission to use the images for promotional
and marketing purposes of the POZNAN PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015.
8. LIABILITY
8.1 By sending the application each participant acknowledges that he/she bears the whole
responsibility for the entire content of his/her works. The Organizers will not be liable for the
content of the works submitted by participants or for any harm caused by the content.
8.2 The Organizers will treat all works delivered for the exhibition with great care though they will
not be responsible for any damage during the transport and exhibition.
8.3 By submitting the application each participant accepts all Competition Rules of POZNAN
PHOTO DIPLOMA AWARD 2015.
